This will be my website to discuss my passion and experiences in the field of Procurement, and not only!

I landed in procurement by pure chance in 2005, I was preparing my mechanical engineering, and I was a trainee at the national railway company in France the 'SNCF', and I was a project coordinator to upgrade the way of working for the storekeeper, one of the missions was to implement the change management for old-generation workers in the company, at the beginning I was informed that we will have a big budget for the 20 stores, but then the budget was decreased by five times, so I was embarrassed to all these storekeepers after what I promise to them.

Then I had only one solution in front of me, negotiate every penny, find all the deals, and create new solutions out of the box that cost me less!
Keep in mind the plan will always change inevitably!

The first lesson in procurement was, the best solution can come from outside, after a discussion with multiple suppliers, one of them propose a fork with big wheels, instead of making a road for a small pallet jack, and with this solution, we did save half of the budget.

I didn't stop there,  I still need more money, so now and for the first time in my life I have a strategy to start negotiating, and I had not one pallet jack for free but two, yes my first negotiation was a high-level achievement. so the second lesson is no matter how many years of experience you have, what matters is the determination to find a way!

I receive a lot of compliments from the staff at SNCF and the best advice ever from the Director, he said; "Wow I never see that from a trainee, you should do procurement Tarik !!!"

Thank you, Jean-Marie

And then a Buyer was born :)
